The hardest part to starting an exercise routine for me was being consistent. I just didn’t have the motivation nor the discipline. One day I’d exercise than nothing for days. Repeat. Robyne is very enlightening. I really enjoy how she teaches the balance of mind and body in exercise and overall health. Preparing for my first marathon, I didn’t really know what to expect. I know from last year that exercise alone does not accomplish these same results. I trained hard last year preparing for the Philly Marathon running 30-40 miles per week for 6 months. I stayed around 235 pounds that whole time. Currently I am under 215 lbs. while training less. My race times have also improved. For the 2 Half Marathons I ran this Spring I improved by nearly 3/4 of a minute PER MILE – that’s over 10 minutes difference for the 13 mile race. I know being “lighter on my feet” has helped this part of my activity too!

A few months ago, I was convinced that my appearance would never change, that I would be overweight for the rest of my life. I had just purchased larger clothes. I was grossly overweight, plagued by hypertension and asthma, had no stamina and no self esteem. I had also been diagnosed with sleep apnea and was facing a future of strange and expensive breathing devices. Bones and joints were hurting. I tipped the scale at 341 pounds.
Knowing that I needed to lose weight, I started the 1000 calorie a day starvation diet. Although initial results were good, 14 pounds lost in six weeks. I soon realized that a starvation diet was not sustainable. The weight loss rate slowed quickly, also.

Hello, Robyne Arrow here, founder of Women Weight Lifting Academy. I’m sure you’re wondering whose the person behind Women Weight Lifting Academy. So, I’d like to share a little about myself.
I think despite my immense background in the health and fitness industry for over 40 years the most valuable aspect is not so much what I achieved rather my purpose behind what I do. My purpose was never about the physique. When I started lifting weight I was too young to understand the concept of having and creating a beautiful physique.
Creating a beautiful physique wasn’t important where a strong mind was. My goal was to find a way that could help me tap into my inner strength so I could rise above the hurt and sadness I saw others display in my immediate environment, and help them feel the same things I felt; joy, happiness and peace, if even for just one second. Helping others find their inner strength is what’s important to me. Always has been and still is even after 40 years of success working with others. I have since worked with hundreds of thousands of individuals achieve success physically, emotionally and mentally.
This desire combined with fitness allowed me to stumble on concepts that to this day defy science. But, they work better than any science based facts.
It is through this mind/body connection that I present the Academy that has inspired hundreds of thousands get into the best shape of their lives, even when they never lifted a single weight prior, and enjoy the process every single step of the way.
